What was he thinking??

I met with a buyer last night at a listing. We had talked on the phone several times, but it was our first meeting. The home was lovely, but not what he was looking for. I got to talking with him trying to learn more of what he wanted now that I had a rough idea from the home we just looked at. he sold his home last month and is renting back till June when his daughter finishes school.

He sold in Plantation, Fl and now is looking in t. I asked Why not use the agent who sold your home since you are staying in the area? You know what he told me, because my agent told me up front, I only work with sellers!!! Never buyers. OK i know we have listing agents and buyers agents. A few years ago this was fine, business was so busy that you needed agents who worked that way. But NOW, its not like we are soooo busy with just listings. Why not sell his home and then help him buy the next? Is that not what we are to do for our clients? Aren't we to help them with both transactions and not just one. I would have understood if he was moving out of the area, then I would have referred him to someone. Not only that, if I was not a buyers agent then why not let someone from his office help him. He just tossed him aside after the sale. Like good luck see ya, we are through,  I sold your home and that's all I needed to do.

Is this just crazy or am I crazy. How does an agent think this way, in this point in time. Don't get me wrong I am happy to help him! Am I wrong I don't think so I truly believe in helping a client with any and all his transactions. Do you think this agent will get a referral again. I don't think so.

Tell me what would you have done?
