Its been Raining

We have been a severe water droubt for a while now. That we are limited to when we water our lawn. Some places here it looks like the desert they way the grass is dead and the plants are no longer there.

I love to sit in my mother in laws backyard and look at the canal, but lately that canal is dried up and ugly. We had wished for so long that they would add water to it. But we are coming into the rainy season and knew that at one point during the summer it would get better.

Well yesterday we had one heck of a rainstorm. My kids sat next to my mother in law on the couch and would not move. My dogs said hidden under my bed, that I never saw before! It was lightening and thundering so bad that even of couple of jolts gave me a scare. I went out into the garage and recorded what it was like out there. Here is a little clip.

Then after the rain stopped. We looked out into the canal and it was completely full! I mean it must have rained a good 5 to 6 inches in an hour! I couldn't believe it. Now the canal doesn't look so ugly. Thank goodness. We have more to come this is just the beginning!

If we could just find a way to spread it around...the midwest is going to be swampland pretty soon...we have had about all we can handle and then some...you always think of Florida as being humid....hope it comes in tolerable doses !

The weather right now is beautiful, I know later today will be another story. This rain was about 6pm last night. That is usually around the time it starts.

Send some of this to Texas... We have already started the dry season (which usually doesn't set in here until mid-late July. We had a few short showers yesterday, but no decent rain in more than a month now. Everything is turning brown already!

Steve that's how i felt when everyone else was getting rain but us. Now we haven't stopped. Will gladly send some your way!

Rusws- We have been dry for so long that at one point we only could water our lawn once a week. Can you imagine how bad or lawns were. Gross!

Jeannette, great video, you could tell how intense the storm was. Glad you're getting some much needed rain. If we could just pipe the midwest flood water to the areas of the country that needed it, would that be something!

Jeannette, all that rain and thunder and lightening must have ruined someone's basketball game (I saw the goal)  but I am sure your land appreciated it quite a bit. I am sure you can remember the drought we had in the south east last year. I think we are still at good levels so far this year, thank goodness!
