So I have been working with international clients, who are looking to purchase a couple of homes in Miramar, Fl. Things have been going great. We were able to find two perfect homes.
We placed two offers. Each brother was purchasing a home. They were both foreclosures, well priced to go quickly. Not on the market very long. As it turned out both homes had several offers already. Now it becomes a bidding game.
One of our offers were accepted and the other was not. Back to the drawing board again for one brother, and for the other we move forward. Our timelines were cutting close since both brothers live out of the country.
We ordered inspections and I was there in place of them. We had to get water and electric turned on since this was a vacant home. I arrive after the inspector and he says most of the inspection is done and part is not. I asked what had not been covered yet. Water, we have no water. I asked if we could just turn it on from the street.
The inspector takes me to the street and shows me that there is no water meter or pipe from the street to the main house. The city had it removed. Great just great. Now having to make calls to the other agent who tells me that the water is on. How I have no idea, since I can see no way possible, neither can the inspector.
This was last week friday. The other agent tells me that the city will have it fixed by Monday 3:30. I was going to call the inspector back out for Tuesday morning. I held off so I could call and make sure it was done. Guess what, nope not done yet!
Today is Wednesday and still nothing yet. Back and forth with the city to get this done has been nearly impossible. Then I get a call and 4:00 telling me that water is going to the house and it has the whole time. I asked how was that possbile when the inspector tried and could not. I tried speaking with the gentleman that apparently that went out with no luck.
I will give them a call again in the morning. I am already having to be charged to have the inspector come out again. If they come out and we still have no water I think I will scream.

Jeannette, it sounded very odd to me that the the city would have anything to do with the line from the meter to the house----certainly not their domain in my area.
Charles ~ The problem was that the owners would turn on the water after the city turned it off several times, so the city decided to remove the meter and in turn would not have water going to the house.
Yes, I can see them taking the meter away:)
Charles Its sad but it is happening a lot more these days.
Yes. I find them tagged or locked out sometimes----but not removed. Big fines for turning them on when they are merely red tagged by the water dept. Just some more hidden costs of the overall financial picture I am afraid.
Jeannette, we do understand, it seems we wokr 3 times as hard for one deal.... here is a psoitive spin http://activerain.com/blogsview/750995/Ghosting-It-Forward-Pay-It-Forward-for-Ann-Arbor-NeighborsFriends-before-Halloween
